Fremont Street ~ Las Vegas 2018

2018: As most folks will agree, Fremont Street is the place where the party that never ends! The Fremont Street entertainment district just keeps on evolving into the future and this old Las Vegas destination actually still offers good value. The entertainment is free in this party zone and the best pricing for dining and accommodations in Las Vegas can be found here too. New flashy attractions and trends are introduced each year, while the classic Las Vegas elements from the golden years are preserved. Inspiring sensory overload has always been the goal of the Fremont Street Experience and the big canopy is where the party goes on seven nights a week all year long!

Las Vegas. is a city where brand new tourism concepts are introduced on a regular basis. There are so many new destinations and attractions that pop up in Las Vegas from month to month, that travel articles about this city can become outdated overnight. For this reason, it is best to apply a time stamp to a Las Vegas tourism article in big bold letters so the viewers are not misled or left behind. Archiving the outdated photo album is just about all that can be done when a Las Vegas article becomes worn out.

For those who have not been to Las Vegas for a while, one of the biggest changes that will be noticed downtown at the intersection of Main Street and Fremont. Four old landmarks have vanished in this area. The Las Vegas Club, Mermaids Casino and the Glitter Gulch Gentlemen’s Club have all been torn down to make way for a new mega resort casino project. The La Bayou Casino was razed for the expansion of the historic Golden Gate. The parent company of the Golden Gate Casino is constructing a modern casino resort across the street where the old landmarks buildings were razed. This will be the first new casino resort built on Fremont Street in over a decade. In this case, change is good because the old Las Vegas Club was thoroughly worn out and a face-lift was much overdue for the flagship corner of Fremont and Main Street.

New bars, restaurants and entertainment venues seem to pop up on Fremont Street every year and some recent changes have appeared that will certainly peak the interest of visitors. There are a couple of new attractions located next to the Slotzilla Zip-Line and the Heart Attack Grill that will surely captivate a wide range of thrill seeking adults too. For those who are fans of the zombie apocalypse mania, a new attraction called Fear The Walking Dead Survival will surely be a pilgrimage site! Fear The Walking Dead Survival is a modern multi-sensory immersive attraction that can scare the bejeezus out of just about anybody that walks through the door. Modern technology is combined with good old fashioned realistic zombie actors to create an apocalyptic experience like no other!

Right across the street in the Neonopolis Entertainment Complex is the brand new Cannabition Cannabis Museum, which will certainly please fans of the world’s most beloved herb! The Cannibation Cannabis Museum is the worlds largest interactive marijuana museum and it takes about an entire hour to tour this place. Anything and everything to do with cannabis history, prohibition and modern marijuana culture is on display. Visitors can learn a little something by checking out the science of cannabis when taking part in the interactive exhibits. Weed enthusiasts can actually participate in hands-on cloning and grow-op procedures in this learning center. There is a room where guests can play with mounds of fresh trimmed bud and visitors can walk around inside Bongzilla, which is the world’s largest bong! Modern cannabis culture artwork adorns the exterior of the building, so this new museum is easy to spot while exploring Neonopolis. As can be imagined, the new Cannabition Cannabis Museum is quite a popular spot, so it is best to purchase tickets ahead of time.

The entire common area around Neonopolis and the Fremont Street East Gateway has seen recent changes too. Neonopolis is now finally seeing a rebirth with new clubs, restaurants and entertainment venues that have been long overdue. Fremont Street East has seen many positive changes too. New bars and clubs have been popping up on East Fremont Street in recent years and the El Cortez Casino Hotel is still the old historic landmark.

One of the newest hot spots on East Fremont that I simply had to check out was Evel Pie! Evel Pie is an Evel Knievel theme biker bar pizzeria and for us old timers, no further explanation is needed. On a local level, Evel Knievel is most famous for doing a daredevil Harley Davidson Motorcycle jump over the Caesars Fountains many decades ago, so this is inspiration enough to check out this monumental destination! A pint of Evel Beer and a slice of Evel Pie only costs a few bucks, so this is a good spot to refresh one’s own two wheel soul and refuel the belly. Evel Pie definitely is the perfect place for those who live hard, ride fast and eat pizza!

Toward dusk during my visit, hunger struck once again, so I strolled on over to a recent downtown addition called Nacho Daddy. Nacho Daddy has a unique south of the border theme that offers far more than just an ordinary bar & grill experience. This cantina offers entertaining modern Mexican food, great Margaritas and of course, an extensive menu of specialty nacho platters that can be shared by guests. Nacho Daddy also serves up a weird cocktail called the Scorpion, which is a double Patrón Tequila shooter with lime and a scorpion in the glass. The Nacho Daddy experience was memorable and the Flaming Tequila Shrimp Appetizer will definitely capture some attention!

After the Scorpion Shooter episode, it was dark outside and the neon lights had already come to life. The Fremont Street Experience music light show definitely enhances the festive atmosphere and the crowd goes into party mode. Wandering around from one busker to the next and tipping for their shows is part of the game in this party zone. Checking out the live bands and stage shows that take place up and down this street always results in some entertaining fun moments. One of the entertainment stages next to the Four Queens Casino Hotel hosted a troupe of zombie acrobat girls putting on a full production show, which drew a big crowd.

The best advice for visitors is to just forget about making any plans when visiting Fremont Street, because every few steps will lead to something exciting and new. There are plenty of the old fashioned Las Vegas mob era destinations downtown, so those who relish the nostalgic past will be charmed too. Fremont Street still offers the best entertainment value in Las Vegas, because the price of admission is free, which is reason enough to place this party zone high on the list when the weekend rolls around!
