The Orange Cliffs Overlook is located next to Grand View Point, which is one of the most popular destinations in Canyonlands National Park. The Orange Cliffs viewpoint is on natural terrain with no guard rails, so there is more room to roam at this spot. This towering perch is located on the southern edge of the Island In The Sky mesa and the panoramic views looking west do stretch well into the Maze District landscape. The magnificent landscape that Grand View Point is famous for remains hidden for the most part, yet details of the white rim way down below do partially come into view and this beckons most visitors to continue on. For this reason, straying 100 yards away from the parking area from the transient crowd will result in complete solitude in this peaceful place. The views of the Orange Cliffs are best during the early morning or sunset hours on a clear day. In such conditions, the cliffs will have a bright golden orange glow that is magnificent to see. As can be seen in the photos, an overcast day of misty rain will result in a dull somber experience, yet because of the majestic Canyonlands landscape the views will be interesting as well. Rain or shine, Canyonlands is worth doing the trip and is is easy to devote a full day to exploring the many scenic overlooks on the Island In The Sky!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
