Trail Of The Shadows ~ Mt Rainier

Trail Of The Shadows is a lengthy hiking trail on the southern slopes of Mt Rainier, which connects with many other pathways to distant points of interest in this national park. This trail can also be done as a short loop that begins and ends near the old historic inn, which makes for a nice easy going stroll upon arrival.

The tall trees and deep moss covered forest floor are the stars of the show along this northwestern rainforest trail, so be prepared for a feast for the eyes. Wildlife abounds everywhere, especially in the wetlands and meadows. Birding opportunities also abound, so be sure to pack a powerful lens. There are also several historic sites to experience from an age gone by, which will draw the interest of the entire family. Just like the name suggests, a hiker will be totally immersed in the shadows of the towering trees and the cool moist air certainly is invigorating!
