The Valley Of Fire truly is a weird landscape and this is especially true during inclement weather. When bright and sunny this destination is as picturesque as can be, but when dark rainy overcast appears, the mode shifts entirely into the paranormal spectrum.
The wet dark shadows reveal a myriad of sullen ghastly faces and mutated alien monster shapes. Animals and comic book characters are also in the mix when stopping to stare. The edge of the mountainous red rock outcrops can appear to be carefully carved ancient facial silhouettes and the shiny black desert varnish has a way of playing tricks on the eyes. The rainy day visuals at Valley Of Fire certainly do compare to a freaky science fiction movie, so foul weather is actually something to look forward to when planning the trip!

*This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations as well, so you will finally see full living color images, just like in the new videos. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and condensing the articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
