Just like the name suggests, the Castle Valley is a showcase of red rock outcrops that look like gothic fortresses and towers. The Fisher Towers is one of the most recognizable and the way this landmark is positioned, it resembles an ancient defensive structure at the mouth of the valley. The Fisher Towers definitely have an ominous appearance, especially during inclement weather when the skies are gray. Even on a bright sunny afternoon these towering red rock pillars are intimidating to gaze upon, especially if doing some rock climbing is in the plans! Just like with the neighboring Castleton Tower landmark, the Fisher Towers is managed as a BLM rock climbing site. Both destinations offer parking, facilities and a picnic area, but only Fisher Towers has a developed campground. Just like with all campgrounds in the Moab region, it is best to make reservations well ahead of time, especially for group outings. There are a few hiking trails that meander through the picturesque Castle Valley landscape, which is kind of like being on another planet for visitors that reside outside of Utah. This is one of the most beautiful places in the west and many famous artists have made a study of the Fisher Towers. The theme definitely is rock climbing at this intimidating recreation site, yet this is also a fine spot for those who just want to enjoy the majestic views. The gothic look of the Fisher Towers is what dreams are made of, so be sure to keep this spot in mind when planning a Moab tour!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
