The Capitol Reef Scenic Drive is a paved touring route through the central section of this picturesque National Park. Doing a slow ride on this road will reward passengers with endless breathtaking views and it is a good way to become familiar with this park. There are a few dirt side road options along this road that go to some of the most famous Capitol Reef natural landmarks, which include the Grand Wash, the Tapestry Wall, a natural arch, Golden Throne and Capitol Gorge. Most of the dirt roads in this area are smooth enough for regular passenger cars, which is a real plus for casual tourists. Be sure to pack a picnic basket and plenty of water, because the majestic views are endless and an entire day of adventure awaits for those who take a leisurely cruise on the Capitol Reef Scenic Drive!

Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations and the quality will be bumped up. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and combining separate articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
