Many of the two lane highways that wind their way through the deep forested mountains actually are official scenic byways, which offer a chance to experience many points of interest between planned destinations. When a scenic byway marker is seen, pulling off the road to type the name of the touring route in a search engine will reveal information about what lies in store up ahead. Some of the scenic byways even have roadside information kiosks that list points of interest, which are a real plus when looking for things to do. U.S. Highway 12 is a busy summer season tourism route that runs between Yakima, Washington and Mt Rainier National Park. This highway is also known as the White Pass Scenic Byway. As can be imagined, there are plenty of majestic landscapes to experience along the way. There are unique points of interest to keep an eye out for too and one of the best is the Clear Creek Falls Overlook in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. From the cliff top perch, the waterfall can be viewed in its entirety and the white water cascading way down to the bottom of the canyon truly is mesmerizing to see. There is plenty to see and do in the Clear Creek Falls scenic area, which is located next to Dog Lake and a roadside national forest campground. This is a premium wildlife viewing area where elk, eagles and ospreys are commonly encountered, so be sure to keep the camera ready for one of those once in a lifetime photos. There are endless summer adventures awaiting in this region and Clear Creek Falls will definitely heighten the experience!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
