Flickr album link: Cleve Creek Campground The Cleve Creek Recreation Area is located a short drive east of Ely, Nevada and it is a nice alternative camping option when touring the neighboring Great Basin National Park. This BLM Recreation Area features a small campground that is situated at the base of the mountains in the lush green Cleve Creek bed, which meanders downhill from towering peaks. The dirt access road is located on State Road 893 next to a gigantic wind farm and it is usually smooth enough for an average passenger car, but a high ground clearance vehicle is recommended. The camping pads are small and there are tight turns, so RV campers and trailer haulers are not recommended. The campground features only basic facilities with no water, so it is best to stock up heavy prior to arrival. The hiking trails head uphill into the national forest high elevations where plenty of desert wildlife and wildflowers can be discovered, which. is the main attraction. The best part is the cottonwoods provide plenty of shade, so this is a great little spot to rest the aching feet after blazing the desert mountain trails!
