An autumn season coastal tall trees tour certainly can be a memorable experience and for those who are interested, there is only one travel route to look for on a map. U.S. Highway 101 literally hugs the Pacific Coastline from Olympic National Park all the way south to Los Angeles and this road passes through some of the most picturesque old growth forests that can be imaged all along the way. There are endless views of desolate beaches to experience too and one in particular is famous for being the gateway to the northern California coastal redwood forests. Crescent Beach can be found on Highway 101 just south of the Oregon Border and it is located next to three major Redwood State & National Parks, so this destination is a good starting point for a lengthy tall trees tour! Just to provide an inkling of what lies in store, the Jedidiah Smith Redwoods, Prairie Creek Redwoods and Del Norte Coast Redwoods are all right next door to Crescent Beach. Just a little further south is where Bald Hills Road can be found, which is a Redwood National Park touring route that features the Ladybird Johnson Grove and Dolan Prairie heading east into the Klamath National Forest. The Klamath Trees Of Mystery attraction is nearby too, so there are plenty of unique tall tree touring options to choose from when starting the journey at Crescent Beach. Crescent Beach is a great attraction in its own right and spending the entire vacation riding the waves is what many visitors choose to do. The picturesque rock outcrops and the lengthy undeveloped sandy beach certainly create a great escape during the long summer season, while the autumn weather can cast a more somber mood. Pea soup fog can be expected almost daily in the cool mornings along the northwest coast, which definitely adds a unique effect. Exploring the redwood forests in the fog is a magical experience that does not translate well to photo images, so being there in person is definitely the best way to go!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
