Flickr album link: Easley Campground The Sawtooth National Recreation Area offers endless opportunities for outdoor adventures in a vast high elevation wilderness and most visitors plan on an extended stay right from the start. The Sawtooth Mountains is a great place to setup a basecamp for a week or two, especially if getting away from it all is what one has in mind. This majestic destination features endless hiking, biking and horseback trails, mountain climbing and plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing. This is where the desert sagebrush country meets the lush green mountain meadows, so it is also a great place to view seasonal wildflower blooms. Several streams and rivers have their headwaters in this region, so the fly fishing is supreme as well. Hot mineral springs dot the map in this area too, which sounds like a dream come true when feeling the aches and pains. All the while, the towering Sawtooth Mountain peaks definitely entice campers to experience more. Not everybody leads a dull daily existence that creates a longing for delving into extreme outdoor sports and risk taking adventures. People that work on their feet for more than eight hours per day are usually not interested in long hikes when vacation time rolls around and spending time relaxing in a hammock sounds more like a dream come true. In fact, the highest percentage of people planning a vacation in the great outdoors simply want to find a cozy place to camp that offers an opportunity to catch up on rest and relaxation. The national forest campgrounds are by far the best choice for this kind of camper, since overcrowding is rarely a problem and the pace tends to be more relaxed. The Easley Campground is a fine example of a national forest campground that spells out pure rest and relaxation. This Sawtooth National Forest Campground is located on Idaho State Road 75 about a half hour northwest of Ketchum, which is a town where goods and services are available. The Easley Campground is one of many roadside campgrounds to be found around the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and it happens to be one of the busier summer season spots because of what this campsite has to offer. For this reason, it is best to make reservations when the weather warms up. This campground is nestled in a grove of shade trees and the views of the mountain peaks certainly are mesmerizing. The Big Wood River flows through this camping area, so trout can be placed on the campfire menu three meals per day. Best of all, the Easley Hot Springs are right next door, which is like a deep sigh of relief. What this all adds up to is the ultimate conditions for rest and relaxation, so be sure to keep the Easley Campground in mind when planning an easy going summer vacation!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
