Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park

When planning an autumn season giant tree tour of California, starting the trip in the northwest part of the state near the Oregon Border is a good way to go. From this point there is literally one old growth forest after another to view along the Pacific Coast all the way south of San Francisco. Then by turning east from the bay area, the towering sequoias can be experienced in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, which is where the tallest trees on earth exist. Up north near Crescent Beach there are endless miles of coastal redwoods protected by State and National Parks, while a lengthy strand of redwood forests continues toward the mountains in the central Klamath region. One of the most popular inland redwood forests in this area is the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, which offers a unique tall trees viewing experience that compares to nowhere else on earth!

The Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is located next to the highway and the inner park roads are paved, so this destination is easy to access. The Jedediah Smith Redwoods are one of California's marquis destinations, so the entire park complex well maintained in order to exceed visitor expectations. The picnic areas and campsites offer adequate facilities, which include old fashioned cast iron ovens and chargrills. The open spaces between campsites are full of tall trees that have a way of hiding whatever is a few dozen yards away, so this park never really seems crowded even on a busy day.

Upon exiting the car, the senses will certainly be overwhelmed with the sights and sounds of the tall tree forest. The eyes will grow big while viewing the enormous tree trunks and it becomes all to easy to stare at the tree tops way up in the sky till one loses their own balance. The Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park truly is a place where the sights and sounds of the forest will magically separate visitors from the world they came from, so be sure to place this majestic great escape high up on the lifetime destination list!
