Flickr album link: Juniper Hot Springs Juniper Hot Springs is located near Highway 40 between Craig and Dinosaur in northwestern Colorado. Dinosaur National Monument, Canyon Pintado and many Yampa River access points can be found in this region, so there is plenty to experience in this neighborhood. The Yampa River State Park is also nearby and there are some great National Forest campgrounds in the high elevations, so the hot springs will definitely fit into the scene when planning a vacation in this area. The dirt roads to Juniper Hot Springs are smooth enough for an average passenger car and there are some popular Yampa River fishing holes right next door, so it does not get much better than this! Juniper Hot Springs was established way back in the late 1880s and it did not take long for this spot to be developed into a local attraction. This destination features a few clay bottom soaking tubs that overflow into a large concrete wading pool. The pool area has protective fencing and several warning signs are posted that are best to read before entering. An entrance fee/donation box is located onsite and the funding helps to maintain the facility. The facility has a modern look that seems totally out of place on the edge of the grassy foothills, but the sight of this unique hot spring will certainly satisfy those who dream of a pool party way out in the middle of nowhere. The flowing mineral water is a constant 102ºF, which is perfect for relaxing after a long day spent exploring the wilderness. For this reason, Juniper Hot Springs is a good spot to keep in mind when planning a trip in this desolate region of Colorado!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
