Nearly every State Park and National Park out west offers a nature trail where visitors can become acclimated with the surroundings. The nature trail foot paths are usually designed to be a short comfortable walk over level ground, so even those who have mobility challenges can enjoy the experience. Some of these trails follow creeks or go around small ponds, which offer cool relief under the shade trees, while others go through a meadow where a wide variety of local native flora is showcased. In the high desert Grand Staircase-Escalante region of Utah, there actually is a famous nature trail that does not exactly go through a green lush environment that most people are used to. In fact, this nature trail setting is so weird looking, that it actually looks like it belongs on another planet! This interesting little foot trail can be found in Kodachrome Basin State Park deep in the heart of the colorful Utah red rock country. The Kodachrome Nature Trail certainly is a feast for the eyes and a little something about the local flora and fauna can be learned by taking a stroll on this majestic pathway! The Kodachrome Nature Trail is easy to find in this big State Park and the parking area is ample with facilities on site. The path meanders through a sparse juniper forest and of course the surreal wind and water carved Kodachrome red rock landscape serves as a visual backdrop. There are several information placards along the trail that provide interesting environmental insights, as well as quotations from world famous conservationists. This little pathway is perfect for visitors of all ages and the tour will certainly enhance the experience for the rest of the day. The Kodachrome Nature Trail most definitely will be fondly remember for years to come, simply because it is unlike any other nature trail on earth, so be sure to take the time to do the leisurely stroll!

Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations and the quality will be bumped up. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and combining separate articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
