Laramie is where the mountains meet the plains in Wyoming and this unique terrain attracts outdoor sportsman from around the globe. Laramie Prairie is in the lower elevations, so as everybody knows, water runs downhill and there are plenty of good fishing spots to be found in this region. Dozens of reservoir lakes, ponds, creeks and rivers await to be experienced in Laramie Prairie, so it goes without saying that this is an anglers paradise. Seasonal big game hunters flock to this destination too and the city of Laramie certainly caters to this crowd.

Bird watchers also find that Laramie Prairie is a prime time wildlife viewing destination during the autumn migration season. The lakes and ponds yield some good views, while following the foot trails in the preserves to wetland areas will provide opportunities to capture a once in a lifetime image. There are a lot of wildlife areas to choose from in Laramie Prairie, so if one spot is not productive a visitor does not have to go far to seek better conditions.

There are several state and federal administrated preserves in this region, which include the Bamforth National Wildlife Refuge, Hutton Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Mortenson Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Lake Hattie and Twin Buttes Lake. The lengthy Laramie River is a haven for wildlife too and so are the surrounding wetland areas. The ponds and reservoirs that are managed by Wyoming Fish & Game tend to favor the anglers and camping is allowed on some of these public lands. Be sure to pack a powerful lens for the journey, because the wildlife viewing opportunities are practically endless in Laramie Prairie!
