There are all sorts of side roads to check out while doing a California coastal tall trees tour on Highway 101 and one of the most interesting tangents runs through the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. As mentioned in a previously published Crescent Beach article, there are several strands of Redwood National & State Parks in the local area and each is well worth exploring, so why not try to experience them all! The Prairie Creek Redwoods touring route parallels the coastline, so there will be plenty of majestic desolate beach views to take in along the way. Better still, the foot paths in this State Park are rated as the very best old growth forest trails in the entire region, so a visitor simply cannot go wrong when spending some extra time in this unique place. Fortunately the nearby campgrounds are in the reservation system, which makes it easy to plan a leisurely autumn big trees touring adventure after the busy summer season is over!
