Route 66 Tucumcari, New Mexico

Traveling on historic Route 66 happens to be a lifelong dream for nostalgia buffs. Tourists from abroad do save money for lengthy holiday excursions on the Mother Road and the reason why is easy to understand. Route 66 symbolizes a part of the classic American dream that the federal government attempted to destroy. Anybody that tours the Mother Road is going against the grain of smooth corporate societal plans, so it becomes easy to be a rebel for a cause. Route 66 certainly has character and this old road offers plenty of room for free spirits to roam. The appeal of stepping back into the past to a simpler time is what captivates visitors the most. Every folly and accomplishment of humanity can be experienced when touring the Mother Road, so put the top down, shift into overdrive and enjoy the ride!

Tucumcari, New Mexico definitely is a Route 66 destination that stands out from the rest! This old historic town has survived many recessions, depressions and high fuel price scams through the years. This town has been neglected by federal politicians and it was left hung out to dry in a big way, yet Tucumcari continues to live on into the present tense. The old classic motels from the golden age of automobile travel have been shuttered and restored many times and this process is now routine. The charming old motor inns, fiberglass giant ice cream cones and one of a kind native trading posts still create the magic that draws tourists in. Tucumcari certainly is one of the best representations of the classic Route 66 scene in modern times.

Cruising the Route 66 Strip in Tucumcari is an educational experience, especially if one has entrepreneurial desires in the blood. Seeing the opportunities that were muddled by unfortunate events of the past being rekindled to meet and greet an entirely new wave of Route 66 fans does lead to visions of opportunity. In Tucumcari, the local people genuinely value the tourism traditions of the past. The old signs are preserved, old concrete stucco sombreros still perch atop gift shops and classic New Mexico style graphic arts prevail. The restaurant food and motel rates in this town offer quality oriented value that has not been seen since the 1960s, which modern corporate franchise chains simply cannot match. In this way, corporate chains that rely upon monopolization are the dinosaurs in the living time capsule of Route 66 Tucumcari.

In Tucumcari, a visitor can relax in retro modern contemporary style or relish the atmosphere in an old Mexican cantina without a thought concerning the outside world. Shopping for antiques, browsing through trading posts full of silver and turquoise native jewelry or simply seeking a unique memento of the journey is part of the Route 66 routine. Every penny spent in Tucumcari goes to the preservation of an American way of life. Route 66 Tucumcari offers a classic kind of nostalgic escape, which is increasingly more difficult to find as time moves on.

Tucumcari is an easy Route 66 town to fall in love with and the nostalgic experience is something that doing an overnighter in a neon lit motel will help to fulfill. This town certainly is a time capsule of the past. The charm of Route 66 Tucumcari certainly does have a way of calling visitors back long after they have gone on down the road!
