The Scenic, Arizona Off Highway Vehicle trails are easy to access from Mesquite, Nevada, which is only a few miles away. Old Highway 91 is the road to look for and soon after crossing the Arizona Border a large expanse of BLM territory will come into view east of Interstate Highway 15. After crossing the bridge over a deep canyon, the BLM Scenic OHV signs can be seen and it is worth taking a look, because all the rules and regulations are posted. A description of the OHV trails is posted too, but the internet offers better trail maps that show more detail. There are several active OHV and 4x4 clubs based in this area that provide information on the web too, which will help first timers become accustomed to this extensive OHV trail system. The terrain in the Scenic OHV Area is mainly composed of ancient ocean bottom and river mud deposits that have heavily eroded over eons of time. The canyon walls and butte hills are steep, so some of the trails are a real challenge. Some of the trails run through the dry wash ravines to the Virgin River, while others head up into the Virgin Mountains, which offer yet another challenging landscape for trail riders. It is also easy to connect with lengthy dirt trails that go deep into Gold Butte National Monument and the neighboring Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument, so there is nearly no end to trail riding that can be done in this end of the Arizona Strip. BLM dispersed camping is allowed in the Scenic OHV Area, so setting up a basecamp is easy to do. Having Mesquite next door makes it easy to stock up on fuel and supplies, while OHV repair shops can be found in this city too. All this makes the Scenic OHV Area well worth checking out, especially if riding endless desert trails is a dream come true!

Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations and the quality will be bumped up. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and combining separate articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
