The Stewart Lake Bird Refuge is one of a few Utah Fish & Game Waterfowl Management Areas that are located along the Green River. Both the Ouray and Browns Park National National Wildlife Refuges are also found along this stretch of the waterway, so it goes without saying that the Green River is the place for a birder to be during the autumn migration season. To be more precise, it has to be a lush area for doing serious birding along the river banks, because there are very few birds to see in the barren desert regions. The Stewart Lake Bird Refuge definitely is lush because it is a large wetlands area, so it is well worth checking out when passing through the town of Jenson, which is in the heart of Utah's dinosaur country. The best part is the Stewart Lake WMA is known as a local Green River fishing hot spot, so filling the creel for dinner can be part of the plan!

Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations and the quality will be bumped up. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and combining separate articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
