All it takes is one visit to agree that the scenic beauty of Sedona is simply unforgettable! Sedona is located in the majestic red rock region of central Arizona, which is as picturesque as can be. Viewing a glowing red rock mesa sunset in Sedona truly is a memorable experience that will proved tranquil thoughts to ponder over for a lifetime! Sedona is a transcending mystical place and a captivating majestic landscape at the same time. For many people, Sedona is a spiritual destination that reflects upon the Mother Earth Spirit. The powerful feeling that Sedona exudes is nothing new, because this area has been occupied by natives for well over 10,000 years, so this is indeed a sacred spiritual place. Sedona is where many modern tribal pow-wows still take place and it is said to be a portal where the spirits of the heavens make their presence known on earth. The modern town of Sedona is the size of a small city, yet a visitor that sticks to the main road will probably never realize how big the population really is. The residences are tucked away in the nooks and crannies of the eroded red rock mesa landscape, so there is no unsightly urban sprawl to obscure the views. The sole main road that runs through town is the business district and the building codes ensure that the commercial buildings also blend in with the scenery. The Sedona businesses primarily cater to the tourism industry, while the local real estate targets the rich and famous, which is reflected in higher than average prices. Amenities, restaurants and services are not cheap in Sedona, but this should not deter budget minded travelers from visiting this unique place. The main attraction of Sedona is Red Rock State Park, which really is the hub of the community and the locals naturally welcome people to admire their home. When waking here in the morning, the red rock mesa landscape is the first to be seen and this majestic sight definitely sets a good mood for the day. Nothing else is a concern and nowhere else matters, because of the omnipresent beauty of this landscape takes over the senses. There are hundreds of hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding trails that run through Red Rock State Park, so visitors can spend an endless amount of time exploring the surroundings. There are also lesser known trails and canyons that can surprise visitors with something new everyday, so boredom is a word that is never heard in this place. The towering red rock outcrops and eroded red rock mesas are the stars of the show in Sedona. There is no use denying this fact, because all that one has to do is look in any direction and the bright glistening red rock formations that touch the cobalt blue sky will inspire plenty to talk about. This is especially true near dawn or dusk, when the sunlight basks the sides of the rock mesas with extremely bright golden colors. At dusk, the effect of light and shadow dramatically comes into play and the Sedona landscape becomes a dream come true for landscape artists and photographers. As can be seen in the photos, Sedona certainly is a destination that requires bringing a good camera along for the tour or devoting plenty of free time to crafting an oil painting. Sedona is a haven for tribal artisans and western landscape painters, so the local galleries simply must be checked out. Spiritual and majestic, the legendary towering red rock landscape of Sedona certainly does beckon to be experienced!

New!
Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *The Destination West website upgrading project is well underway. Unique YouTube slideshows are replacing the outdated Flickr photo galleries. The new videos feature modern graphics and alternative music instrumentals that enhance the viewing experience. Some articles are being condensed, while others are getting much needed edits. As everybody knows, the bulk of the original articles and photos were published on the fly during the Covid camping venture and there were limitations. Upgrading is the way to go and more articles will receive a makeover each week until this project is completed. After that, I will be able to gather new material. There is light at the end of the tunnel!
