There are several Route 66 destinations that are worth going out of the way to experience and the Bottle Tree Ranch definitely is one such place. The old historic Mother Road was bypassed with modern high speed interstate highways long ago and all towns along the way suffered the consequences. Fortunately the rebellious Route 66 culture rose to the occasion and many of the popular landmarks from the golden years achieved cult status. Route 66 also became a haven for alternative artists and some of the strangest modern junkyard art exhibits on earth can be discovered just about anywhere between Chicago and Santa Monica along this classic tourism pathway. Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch takes the cake as being one if the most interesting and there simply is no substitute for experiencing this famous California Route 66 destination in person! The Bottle Tree Ranch is a place where sight and sound create an alternative reality. Thousands upon thousands of old empty bottles are fashioned as a forest full of bottle trees that are guaranteed to fascinate visitors of all ages. There are many artifacts from the golden years of California Route 66 culture on display in this outdoor art exhibit too. The glistening bright sunlight glancing off the tall bottle trees is mesmerizing, while a gentle breeze can add subtle jug band tones to the atmosphere, just like wind chimes. Hours can be spent wandering through the bottle tree forest and there are plenty of places to relax in the shade. The Bottle Tree Ranch has been the perfect spot to stretch the legs after a long drive for many decades and it certainly is a prime time destination for a Sunday afternoon picnic outing!

Destination West YouTube channel! https://www.youtube.com/@DestinationWestOrg *This website will be going through renovations soon. Separate destination articles will be combined after the videos replace the outdated photo gallery system. As many readers know, most of the writing was done on the fly while camping, so many articles read like a rough draft. The articles will be cleaned up and edited. Many of the old photos were straight out of the camera due camping limitations and the quality will be bumped up. Another goal is to make navigating the index pages easier and combining separate articles will help. This website will continue into the future and your patience is greatly appreciated!
