Mob Museum ~ Las Vegas

The American west is renowned for being the home of specialized fringe museums, especially in places where big crowds of tourists go. Las Vegas is one such particular place and this big city hosts several bizarre museums that are not exactly classified as being mainstream. The Cannabition Interactive Museum and the Erotic Heritage are just to name a few of the fringe exhibit areas in this city. The Neon Museum is yet another specialized museum that showcases the glowing signs that this old town is famous for. There is one other famous marquis that played a legendary role in the history of Las Vegas and a local museum that is dedicated to this dark subject too. The Mob Museum was recently established by one of the most famous mafia lawyers of all time, who just happened to be the mayor of this city. As far as the specialized museum experience is concerned, it simply does not get any better than the Las Vegas Mob Museum!

The Mob Museum does showcase the famous G-Men that put an end to organized crime, but this museum is far more famous for telling the other side of the story. Because the mob basically established Las Vegas back when Boulder Dam was being built and because the mob absolutely ruled this town till late in the 20th Century, it is only fitting the the mob side of the story be told. This downtown Las Vegas Museum houses mob exhibits that were procured from coast to coast, so a complete understanding of the syndicate can gained by taking a tour. There are high tech interactive exhibits, a real hands-on "Chicago Organ Grinder" to play and the original Saint Valentines Day Massacre Wall can even be found in this place. Selfie photo opportunities abound in this museum, especially in the suspect line-up room!

The Mob Museum has a gift shop that features mob related merchandise. Everything from specialized meat tenderizers to family cook books can be found here. There is plenty of mob style Las Vegas memorabilia to browse through too. Visitors of all ages are welcome in this one of a kind museum and the adults will be happy to know that there is a secret speakeasy in this building that offers traditional libations. Guided tours, group rates and special event information can be found at the Mob Museum website, so be sure to check it out when making plans for a Las Vegas style fringe museum tour!
