Upper Onion Creek Campground ~ Moab

​The Upper Onion Creek Campground definitely is a premium spot for waking up to some of the most beautiful views in the west! This Moab BLM campground is situated at the mouth of Castle Valley and the red rock bluffs of the Colorado River basin are right next door. This destination also overlooks the majestic Fisher Towers, which also has a campground on site. The gothic appearance of the red rock formations in Castle Valley are guaranteed to overwhelm the senses upon a first visit, so as can be imagined, the Upper Onion Creek Campground is a popular place to relax and unwind!

Castle Valley certainly is a world of adventure and the sheer beauty has a way of captivating visitors for a lifetime. Rock climbing is what this valley is famous for and there are two great climbs within hiking distance of the Upper Onion Creek Campground. The Fisher Towers and Castleton Tower are official BLM rock climbing sites that many climbing clubs worldwide make a pilgrimage to. The Colorado rafting adventures in this region are world famous too and there are several excursion businesses to choose from just a few miles down the road in Moab. The Kokopelli's Trail also runs by this campground, which is one of the most famous mountain biking trails in the west. 

For those who seek a place to camp that offers nothing but beautiful views and endless adventures, the Upper Onion Creek Campground most definitely belongs at the top of the list! Both the Fisher Towers Campground and Onion Creek Campground are in the Moab BLM campsite reservation system, so planning an excursion way ahead of time can be easily done. During the busy spring and summer tourism seasons, making reservations is the only way to go, because the neighboring National Parks attract millions of visitors. The Upper Onion Creek Campground definitely is worth planning an entire vacation around, so be sure to keep this picturesque spot in mind!
